The Development Network of Indigenous Voluntary Associations (DENIVA) is a Ugandan non-governmental organization (NGO) that provides a platform for local voluntary associations to engage in sustainable, people-centered development. Since its establishment in 1988, DENIVA has grown to include over 800 member organizations from across Uganda. It supports civil society organizations (CSOs) by fostering capacity building, promoting governance and human rights, advocating for sustainable livelihoods, and enhancing organizational resilience.
By becoming a member of DENIVA, organizations join a robust network aimed at influencing positive social change, improving accountability, and ensuring effective service delivery in various sectors. Membership provides numerous benefits, including access to training programs, resources for advocacy, opportunities to participate in governance-related forums, and the chance to be part of larger advocacy campaigns focusing on social justice, climate change, and civil society empowerment.
DENIVA also serves as the Secretariat for the NGO Quality Assurance Mechanism (QuAM), a system designed to ensure transparency and accountability among NGOs. Furthermore, it is an active advocate for gender mainstreaming and youth empowerment across all its programs.
